Mission: Impossible IV will be shot Dubai within the upcoming weeks, the Dubai Government Media Office told Reuters on Tuesday.

The movie will be directed by Phillip Bradley “Brad” Bird, known for his work in The Incredibles and Ratatouille. Oscar Award-winner Tom Cruise, who starred in the last three Mission Impossible movies, will be returning to play the character Ethan Hunt.

Also starring in this new film are Hollywood stars Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and Paula Patton (Precious, Deja Vu).

“Preparations for filming in Dubai have been agreed with the production company, Paramount, following two months of meetings and location scouting,” the media office said in a statement.

“Actual filming of the project, which will attract more than 400 industry professionals, is expected to commence within a few weeks,” the statement read.

Dubai, famous for its tourist attractions and lavish real estate projects, is slowly recovering from the global financial crisis. Revenue loss from slow business led to a number of project cancellations and left thousands unemployed.

Following the 2004 Dubai International Film Festival, Dubai has strived to become an international movie hub.

The movie is scheduled to hit the theaters in the summer of 2011.
