The body of a missing hiker was found in Connecticut on Wednesday, officials said.
Sarah Addy, 31, left her home in Branford to go for a hike out in the woods but didn’t return. She went out hiking on Monday, June 13, according to the Branford Police Department.
It said that she was reported missing after nobody could contact her via her cell phone, police said.
The Branford Police Department stated that her body was found along “the eastbound railroad tracks, just east of Thimble Island Road.”
“Police investigators believe that Addy was struck by [an] eastbound train sometime during the nighttime hours last evening,” the department stated.
Detectives say they'll investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. Her body was found at around 7:15 p.m. ET.
Officials told the New York Daily News they believe no foul play was suspected in her death.
Her disappearance sparked a widespread search around Branford, located east of New Haven.
On social media, people mourned her death.
“May you RIP Sarah Addy, gone to soon,” wrote one woman on Facebook.
“Love you Sarah Addy. I’m heartbroken,” wrote another person on the website. “So many great memories. You'll be forever missed.”
