Work is being done on the Minecraft Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions, Mojang said in a recent update.
In a post about a Minecraft TU14 update for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the company made a reference to the upcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.
“Here is the full change log. I hope you will enjoy it and for you guys asking about the Xbox One and Playstation 4 edition: It is being worked on as we speak! I got no proper dates yet, but hopefully soon we can tell you!” it said.
“This has been way too long for us to present but it is finally here! TU 14 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 will be out later today on Xbox 360 and tomorrow on PS3. I hope you will enjoy it. Make sure you hook up your console to the internet to enjoy the latest update ;) ,” the post also reads.
According to a report from IGN a few days ago, the Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is close to being completed.
Microsoft Game Studios Vice President Phil Spencer spoke with IGN at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco last week. He said Minecraft for the Xbox One will ultimately be decided by Mojang and 4J Studios.
“I talked to [4J Studios] last night,” Spencer told the website. “They feel really good about the progress that they’re making. It’s their game, and it’d be Mojang’s game. We graciously host it on our platform.”
“But unlike on 360 where they had never been on console before and the developer relationship, I’ll say, was very tight from the beginning, this is something that’s really in their hands now,” Spencer added. “They’re a full-fledged developer in every sense. They control the [release] date of that, but I’ll tell people that we’re getting really close. I talked with Notch [aka Mojang founder Markus Persson] last night, and they’re really excited about the quality.”
The Minecraft: Xbox One Edition was announced at E3 last year. After the game was released for the Xbox 360, it sold more than 10 million copies.
