Michael Schumacher’s accident still haunts friend and Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel.
Vettell recently expressed to German magazine Focus what he’s been thinking.
“It’s hard for me to talk about it,” he said, reported SpeedWeek. “I’m still shocked. Michael’s accident shows can change things such as fast. ”
A skiing accident late last year left Schumacher in a coma.
His comments come after several updates in the Schumacher case.
His manager said recently that “We remain confident that Michael Schumacher will make it through and wake up.”
The statement came amid conflicting reports that Schumacher woke up from his coma and recognized his wife, but local journalist Nicola Pohl dismissed the rumors.
Manager Sabine Kehm said earlier in April in an interview with German broadcaster that once the F1 driver leaves the hospital, the family will stop giving updates.
“Our plan and our desire would be that from the moment in which Michael can go into a rehab clinic, this media coverage will stop,” Kehm said, reported GMM.
The team and family have been criticized by some for not releasing more information, criticism that Kehm doesn’t agree with.
“Michael Schumacher is in a coma and cannot decide what is reported about him,” she explained.
“We, of course, know how he deals with such things and try in his interest to handle these matters for him.”
