Michael Bolton opens up: Singer Michael Bolton recently had several in-depth interviews with the Huffington Post, touching on a wide-range of topics.

The 60-year-old Connecticut native spoke on his relative disdain for rap music.

“In general, rap can push the wrong buttons with me primarily because of the association and the suggestion of a certain value of women,” he told the Post. “That’s my biggest issue with rap. There’s a kind of diminishing of self-esteem involved in embracing some of it.”

Rapper Kanye West sampled Bolton for his “Never Let Me Down,” which featured Jay-Z. But Bolton said he wasn’t aware of who West was at the time.

“What do I think of Kanye now? I think he’s a very talented guy,” he said. “And I'd like to see him chill a little bit,” he said.

Regarding Jay-Z, Bolton says he “happen[s] to be a big fan.”
