Miami’s Douglas Park has been shut down after testing discovered widespread soil contamination.
The large park just outside Coral Gables will be closed indefinitely--likely for months, reported the Miami Herald.
“It looks like the entire park is contaminated,” said Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, who represents the district.
The testing of all parks in Miami began this fall after metal contaminates were found in Blanche Park and Merrie Christmas Park.
Douglas Park is perhaps most well-known for its lighted tennis courts.
The contaminants there include lead and cadmium.
