UPDATE: The MTA says service is returning to the impacted lines with delays.

-------Original story below

Metro-North partially shut down on Thursday night, with multiple trains delayed.

Grand Central is chaotic following the shut down, with hundreds of commuters stuck in the station.

Pictures show the station very crowded.

Trains can not move because of safety reasons, a Metro-North representative told CBS.

Lines currently suspended are Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven.

The Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines are running normally.

There’s no word on when trains will re-start.
