NAGOYA, Japan—After wrapping up its performances in Kansai, Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company proceeded to its next leg in central Japan. On the evening of April 26, Shen Yun presented its artistic feast at Aichi Prefectural Arts Theater Big Hall in Nagoya, which is the third largest city in Japan.

Among many politicians attending the show was Mr. Watanabe, member of Council of Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture. Seeing the show with his wife, Mr. Watanabe expressed that he was deeply moved by the traditional Chinese culture presented by Shen Yun.

It was Mr. Watanabe’s first time watching Shen Yun. He said that he was grateful for the opportunity to attend and was deeply impressed by the performance, including the great unison of dancers’ movements. He really admired the performers’ solid foundation. He explained, “It is very creative to synchronize classical Chinese dance and high-tech animated backdrops. This is my first time seeing this kind of spectacular performance, and I am really very grateful [for Shen Yun].”

Although there is no dialogue in the performance, Mr. Watanabe said that he could fully comprehend the connotations of the performance. He also expressed that the digital backdrops were of help to audience members’ understanding of the story-based dances.

He spoke highly of the programs depicting the scenes of divine beings descending to the secular world to safeguard sentient beings confronted with disasters. He said: “Japan is also a country where Buddhism is quite popular. So, the programs portraying Buddhas and gods descending to the earth to save sentient beings are easy to understand. This kind of performance is very good.”

Upon learning that Shen Yun cannot perform in China, Mr. Watanabe said: “It is indeed inconceivable that such a magnificent performance that has been performed in various countries around the globe, and highly acclaimed [by its audiences] cannot be performed in China. The Chinese regime’s thinking is very strange.”
