The first live 3-D sports broadcast was beamed into nine pubs in the UK and Ireland on Saturday.

Not only did soccer legends Manchester United thrash their league rivals Arsenal by three goals to one, they were seen doing so on flat screens in 3-D in real time in five major cities.

Pubs in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Dublin, hosted the event with dark glasses and technology supplied by Sky.

“A uniquely impressive experience which really made the action come alive,” said soccer pundit Frank Wiechula in the Daily Express on Monday, February 1st.

The spectacle has to be watched with special glasses similar to those used by audiences of James Cameron’s fantasy film Avatar.

Avatar has become the biggest grossing film ever and is considered a breakthrough in film technology similar to the leap from black and white to colour.
