Cable and broadcast networks cut away from President Donald Trump on Thursday as he spoke from the White House to claim that Democrats were trying to “steal” the presidential election from him with “illegal votes.”

“If you count the legal votes, I easily win,“ Trump declared, as several heavily contested states, including Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Arizona, were still counting ballots that arrived by mail. ”If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us. If you count the votes that came in late, we are looking at them very strongly. A lot of votes came in late.”
