Madonna celebrated her 52nd birthday in London at the weekend with family and a few celebrity friends.

According to the Mirror, the superstar arrived at her rooftop party with daughter Lourdes (13). Madonna was dressed in a grey silk dress and crucifix necklace.

Celebrity guests arrived including actress Billie Piper, TV presenter Claudia Winkleman, and comedian Paul Whitehouse. Apparently they were asked to dress in black.

The singer’s Hollywood friends Gwynneth Paltrow and Stella McCartney were conspicuously absent, reported the Mirror.

Platters of quails’ eggs were served with caper mayonnaise, mini fishcakes, peppers and scallops. There was more than £50,000 of champagne and cocktails according to the Herald Sun.

Madonna’s actual birthday is on Monday, and she is believed to be sharing a party with son Rocco, who turned ten last week, said Hello Magazine.

The Daily Mail said she is throwing a “kings and queens” fancy dress bash and thought to be going as Henry VIII’s second wife, Anne Boleyn.

Madonna is also planning a charity concert in Malawi in September, which she says will be the biggest fundraiser the world has ever seen, reported Bigpond News.

Her two youngest children, David and Merci were both adopted from the African nation and Madonna already operates a fundraising foundation for Malawi.

Several artists are already involved in the concert, including U2’s Bono, said Bigpond News.
