NEW YORK—Local food, quaint stalls, great company, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere make up one of the most popular food events in the city. The usually stark space of Worth Square has been transformed into a bustling open-air food market until June 1.

Adjacent to Madison Park, Mad. Sq. Eats consists of 28 vendors from the Flatiron area and beyond, selling a variety of food and beverages. For almost every taste there is something available: ice cream, chocolate, baked goods, seafood, and Turkish, Mexican, Asian, and plenty of Italian cuisine.

Many vendors are committed to source locally and use healthy ingredients—considering themselves artisans. Some make an effort to offer unusual creations, like hotdogs on a pretzel bun, compost cookies, or Cuban pig heads.
