A flood warning was issued for Lubbock, Texas, until 6:30 p.m. local time, according to reports.
“The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Flood Warning for: Southern Lubbock County in northwest Texas,” the agency said.
Photos posted on Twitter show that some areas have already been hit by flooding in the city.
Indiana and 98th streets in Lubbock were completely under water, according to photos on Twitter.
“At 4:16 pm CDT, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated slow moving thunderstorms have produced very heavy rain in excess of 2 inches over the last half an hour,” the National Weather Service said.
It added that runoff “from this excessive rainfall will cause flooding to occur. Some locations that will experience flooding include: Lubbock South Plains Mall, Ransom Canyon, slide, Wolfforth and Woodrow.”
