A fire on the 11th floor of the Barrington Plaza Apartments in Los Angeles was knocked down by firefighters on Friday.

Smoke was visible from outside the building and had damaged several floors.

Over 200 firefighters were on the scene.

5 people were hospitalized from the fire, including one child, who is in critical condition. The conditions and ages of the other four are unclear as of yet. Three firefighters were taken to the Grossman Burn Center with non-life threatening burns (two have leg burns, the other has an ear burn).

The fire was confined to one 2-bedroom unit. There aren’t any sprinklers in the entire building.

The fire was put out around 12:50 p.m. PDT. Wilshire Boulevard was closed from San Vicente Blvd to Bundy Drive.
