NASA tested its Morpheus Lander today, July 11. The test and live stream is over.

Morpheus is a vertical test bed for demonstrating new propellant propulsion systems, according to NASA. It is large enough to carry 1,100 pounds of cargo to the moon. It is unique because it is using a combination of liquid oxygen and methane, which can be stored for longer times compared to common propellants, and is extremely cheap and safe to operate and test.

An earlier version of Morpheus crash landed last year and exploded, but NASA is continuing to test the inexpensive lander for future spaceflight missions.
