Rock icon Chester Bennington committed suicide by hanging himself, a Los Angeles County coroner confirmed on Thursday, according to Billboard.com.

Bennington’s body was found at his home in Los Angeles on Thursday. Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office, said that the Linkin Park frontman hung himself from a bedroom door.

Winter said that a half empty bottle of alcohol was found in the room, but that there was no evidence of drugs. Bennington struggled with drugs and alcohol addictions at various points in his life.

There was no suicide note found.

The coroner’s office is yet to schedule at autopsy.
