Many home cleaning products have a scent of lemon, but most of us assume that lemons just make it smell good, but don’t necessarily make things cleaner. However, lemon juice acid is effective in removing dirt and stains, especially when mixed with salt.

Here are a few ways to use lemons as a natural cleaner:

Cutting boards: Squeeze a half a lemon on the board, rub the surface and let it sit for 15 minutes. Adding salt also helps to kill bacteria. Rinse off.

Dish Soap: Add fresh lemon juice to your dish soap to give it more grease-cutting power.

Countertops: Mix lemon and baking soda with water and put in a spray container or just combine the two and wet down with a sponge.

Garbage disposal: Cut a lemon in half and run both through the disposal.

Clean glass coffee pot: Squeeze fresh lemon juice in glass coffee pot, add 1/4 cup salt, a half of lemon, ice, and soak a few minutes. Give a good stir a few times before rinsing.
