Lately, the propensity to blast political opponents with inappropriate labels has intensified. Having only a weak knowledge of history (authentic history no longer being taught), too many Americans are not equipped to evaluate those false accusations. That’s dangerous.

An egregious example is the often-bleated label “Nazi” applied to anyone the speaker or author dislikes. But it’s nonsense. “Nazi” refers to the National Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei—Germany’s 1930s and 1940s National SOCIALIST Party.

But the politicians and media do not label America’s socialists as “Nazis.” Nor the wanna-be totalitarians. Apparently, the pols and media pundits have studied too little history.

We need to arm ourselves with more truthful knowledge. Sadly, we cannot rely on traditional sources. Research and a mindful application of common sense will be our shield against “fake news.” Thank goodness for Epoch Times.
