The Hall of Fame New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arraigned in New York on Thursday in connection to a rape case, according to authorities.
CNN reports that Taylor, who appeared in 10 Pro Bowls during his career, pled not guilty on third-degree rape charges. Taylor allegedly committed the crime at a hotel in Montebello, N.Y., located just northwest of New York City.
“Formal charges will be filed upon the completion of our investigation,” said the nearby Ramapo Police Department in a statement, according to CNN.
The Journal News reports that his lawyer Kenneth Gribetz said Taylor “will be fully exonerated.”
A police supervisor in Ramapo, Christopher St. Lawrence, told Journal News that the victim was a runaway. “She got punched in the face,” said St. Lawrence in the report. “We’re not sure who did it.”
