Laura Linney won the Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie on Sunday.

She won the award for her role in  “The Big C: Hereafter” on Showtime. She plays Cathy Jamison in the series.

She was also an executive producer for the series.

Linney couldn’t attend the awards because of work.

“She’s such a great actress that she didn’t need to show up, ” joked award co-presenter Michael Douglas.

Linney won the 2011 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series--for the same role.
