Kurt Warner, the former Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and his professional partner Anna Trebunskaya were eliminated from Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday night.

He told ABC’s Good Morning America that professional dancing was a challenge for him, even though he spent more than a decade playing on the gridiron. However, he said he was “pleasantly surprised” with the outcome.

“I played football for so long that it became natural, it became something I was good at,” Warner told Good Morning America. “['Dancing With the Stars’] was such a huge challenge. It was more difficult than I thought it would be.”

Warner was the last professional athlete to remain on the show before getting voted off. Former Los Angeles Lakers player Rick Fox was voted off last week.

The problem for athletes ... they’re not really performers, don’t really know how to externalize how they’re feeling,“ Trebunskaya said on the show. She said Warner was an exception. ”[Kurt] went out there every single week, had a blast, and made everybody enjoy it.”

Jennifer Grey and Brandy, after Tuesday night, are tied for first place.

Warner was recently named the 90th greatest NFL player of all time by NFL Network. As quarterback of the “Greatest Show on Turf” St. Louis Ram’s offense, Warner led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2000.
