A brush fire near Kirker Pass Road and Hess Road in Concord, Calif., is threatening several homes, according to reports. The fire has already burned around 250 acres and destroyed three buildings.
Capt. Robert Marshall, with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said the fire is not yet contained, reported the San Francisco Chronicle.
Firefighters said they got reports of the fire at 1:32 p.m. near Kirker Pass Road, reported Patch.com. It is located near the old Concord Naval Weapons station.
The fire destroyed two shes and a barn, the Chronicle reported.
“The wind is starting to pick up and that is a concern for us at this point,” Marshall told the Chroncile.
CalFire helicopters were deployed to help douse the fire, reported the San Jose Mercury News. There are also reports of downed power lines.
As many as five structures, including homes and barns, are threatened by the blaze.
Fire officials say the fire could grow even larger due to the wind. Temperatures in Concord are hovering around 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
