Kidnapped Dutch Relief Worker and Afghan Driver Freed

A Dutch a relief worker and his driver were released on Dec. 2, after they were kidnapped in Afghanistan more than a month ago.

Peter Oosterhuis, 33, works for Streams Afghanistan with handicapped children. He and his driver were abducted in Takhar Province on Oct. 25.

Dutch Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal announced their release on Dec. 2, Dutch media the Spits reported. Both are in good health.

Oosterhuis is still in Afghanistan, yet plans to return home as soon as possible. His driver was reunited with his family. Rosenthal praised Afghan authorities for their assistance.

Evert Kroon, spokesman of Streams Afghanistan thinks the abduction may have been a case of mistaken identity, the Spits reported.
