Kanye West gave a surprise performance on a Delta Airlines flight from Minneapolis to New York City on Friday, before continuing on to Madrid, Spain, to attend the MTV Music Awards 2010 on Sunday.

The 33-year-old rapper was sitting in First Class but about 30 minutes after takeoff, he made his way into the cockpit, introduced himself over the loudspeaker system, and then began rapping.

A passenger told Hollywood Life: “ ... Then he couldn’t decide if he wanted to do The Good Life or Gold Digger, so he was like, ‘I’ll just do a little bit of both.’ It was awesome ...”

West not only surprised the passengers with his performance but also exited the flight along with everyone else, rather than leaving with the First Class passengers.

“He filed out in line with everyone else, and I thought that was pretty cool. Especially for Kanye,” commented the passenger.

West had been in Minneapolis promoting his fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

From New York, he took a flight to Europe to catch the MTV Awards on Sunday, where he also surprised viewers by jumping up onstage to perform with 30 Seconds to Mars for a verse from Hurricane followed by Power.
