Judge Judy sued: Judith Sheindlin, the star of “Judge Judy,” was sued by the wife of one of her producers over the cost of fine china she was sold.
Judge Judy is being sued by one of her producers for paying far less for very expensive fine china.
The lawsuit, which was obtained by celebrity website TMZ, said Randy Douthit sold Judge Judith Sheindlin the china after he divorced his wife. The suit says that the china was worth $514,421, but Sheindlin bought it for $50,000
The suit claims that Sheindlin, 70, was involved in a scheme to defraud Douthit’s former wife, Patric Jones. TMZ said that Sheindlin bought the dishes without Jones’ knowledge or consent.
Jones is seeking to get the real value of the dishes.
Sheindlin, however, denied her claims.
“I have not seen any complaint by the former Mrs. Douthit, however, I don’t owe this lady a cent,” Sheindlin told TMZ in an interview. She accused Jones of “abusing the judicial system with frivolous lawsuits.”

“Judge Judy” has been a staple of daytime TV for years, averaging 10.1 million viewers a day in the third week of January 2012, according to The Associated Press. The show draws more viewers than the three next popular courtroom shows combined.
“They want to do the right thing, most people,” Sheindlin explained last month, according to AP. “For that little core that doesn’t want to do the right thing and gets away with it routinely, most people want to see them get a good whupping. And I am your girl.”
Sheindlin is signed to appear on “Judge Judy” until 2015.
