The Jodi Arias trial, which will move into the sentencing phase as prosecutors seek the death penalty, is set to start on March 17.
The date was set by judge Sherry Stephens following weeks of closed-door hearings between both sides.
Arias, 33, was convicted last year of murdering her boyfriend Travis Alexander in 2008, but the jury couldn’t reach a unanimous decision on whether to sentence her to death or life in prison.
A new penalty phase must be held in which lawyers are expected to bring evidence and call witnesses.
If the deadlock happens again, then the judge will decide whether Arias should get life in prison without possibility of parole, or get life in prison with possibility of parole in 25 years.
The new date was announced after a closed-door hearing, which has become typical of the situation as it has worn on. Jury selection will begin on March 17, according to the Maricopa County Superior Court.
The trial began as an international sensation and was broadcast via live video streams. However, reporters and the public have complained that the judge has severely limited coverage over time.
