JFK Airport Arrivals’ Delay Average 5 Hours

Some of JFK airport’s arriving flights are delayed an average of five hours and 32 minutes.

John F. Kennedy International Airport has arriving flights delayed an average of four hours and 49 minutes, the Federal Aviation Administration announced Tuesday.

“To see if you may be affected, select your departure airport and check ‘Delays by Destination,’” said the FAA statement.

Aside from JFK, Newark Liberty International Airport is experiencing delays averaging eight hours and 12 minutes, Philadelphia International Airport is having delays averaging only 23 minutes, Teterboro Airport in New Jersey is experiencing delays averaging one hour and 35 minutes,and LaGuardia Airportis having delays averaging two hours and one minutes, according to the FAA.

As of 11 a.m., the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced that JFK’s AirTrain service had been temporarily shut down. Free shuttle buses are transporting travelers around the JFK terminals, Howard Beach station, and Jamaica station.

JFK was closed at 8:17 p.m. Sunday and reopened for departures at 6 p.m. Monday after the severe blizzard that swept from New York to Boston.

The National Weather Service predicted mostly cloudy weather Tuesday afternoon with a high near 36 degrees. The rest of the week is expected to be sunny and clear
