An unknown odor emanating from the back of a plane on its way to Florida got diverted and landed in Oklahoma City. The odor caused breathing problems for five people on the flight. Multiple ambulances waited for the plane to land at 2:22 a.m. Flight Aware tracked the actual landing time. The Oklahoma City Fire Department treated passengers and crew, according to Oklahoma’s News 9. Oxygen tanks were deployed to assist those passengers. One person complained of feeling lightheaded.
Three passengers and two crew members were treated and then released, according to NewsOK. The two passengers got on another JetBlue plane that was called in from New York to continue the flight to Fort Lauderdale. The passengers first boarded the plane in Long Beach, California.
JetBlue does not operate out of Will Rogers World Airport, in Oklahoma City, but was forced to make the emergency landing there. Flight diversions to Oklahoma City are common due to its central location and ease of access into and out of the airport.
