Jessica Simpson New American Idol Judge?

American Idol is interested in having Jessica Simpson as part of the new judge panel.

American Idol is interested in having Jessica Simpson as part of the new judge panel.

The singer and actress has had several meetings with producers of American Idol. “I’m not sure whether her people approached Idol, or if it was the other way around,” said an unnamed source to Entertainment Weekly. But it seems that they share a mutual interest in each other.

It is believed that the Nigel Lythgoe, former producer of the show, will return for the tenth season. He was interested in making changes to the panel of judges. On the other hand, Simpson could possibly be the replacement for British music executive Simon Cowell.

Remaining judges for the show are Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres.
