James Ferrari and Donna Smith have been identified as two of the four confirmed victims of the Metro North train derailment on Sunday.
Ferrari, 59, was a resident of Montrose, New York; Smith, 54, lived in Newburgh, which is also in New York.
The train derailed north of Manhattan as it was turning to head further north.
Jim Lovell, a 58-year-old Cold Spring resident, had already been identified as one of the victims.
A law enforcement source told NBC that the fourth victim was a 35-year-old Queens woman.
The woman hasn’t been named because her family hasn’t been notified yet.
The crash, which happened around 7:20 a.m., also injured over 60 other passengers, out of the roughly 150 who were on board.
Joel Zaritsky was dozing as he traveled to a dental convention aboard the train. He woke up to feel his car overturning several times.
“Then I saw the gravel coming at me, and I heard people screaming,” he told The Associated Press, holding his bloody right hand. “There was smoke everywhere and debris. People were thrown to the other side of the train.”
Authorities, including MTA officials and NTSB officials, have begun investigating what happened.
