An investigation into an Oneida nursing home that barred African Americans working from a unit where a resident had discriminatory preferences has been settled, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced Tuesday.

According to court documents, the Betsy Ross nursing home that provides nursing care to seniors specifically indicated that “No Colored Nurses” were allowed on the floor where the white patient resided.

“Sadly, this case demonstrates that racism is still alive, and that we must be aggressive and unwavering in rooting out racial discrimination by employers,” Schneiderman said in a statement.

The nursing home will implement several changes, including an anti-discrimination policy, and has agreed not to retaliate against any current or former employees who took part in the investigation.
