Ines Sainz, the popular sports reporter for, revealed some details about herself in a new interview published just ahead of Super Bowl media day.
She revealed that her mother thought she was a tomboy growing up, and was concerned whether her daughter would be feminine enough.
“During the time I’m a student, I start to do modeling, but I discovered that I really like to express myself in front of the cameras,” she told Bleacher Report.
“I saw no other woman in Mexico was in the sports area, so I say ‘why, if the women like the sports, why are they not talking about sports? It’s the moment I decide that I will be the first to be in front of the camera surrounded by men.”
Sainz, 36, said that she’s developed her own style.
“I’m very authentic,” she said.
“You want to be pretty,” she added, noting that she catches the attention of players and coaches by being different from other reporters. She said she combines beauty with intellect about the game.
“She’s become almost like this celebrity, this star,” said one reporter. “She draws more attention than the players do.”
Sainz said that she’s looking for new opportunities for her career in the United States. “I love my job,” she said.
