The hashtag #IfMyPhoneGotHacked was trending on Twitter on Sunday into Monday morning as people made jokes about what hackers would find on their phone if they indeed got hacked.
The joke is in reference to a massive leak that was allegedly caused by iCloud, which a hacker(s) took advantage of to swipe pictures from the phones of a number of celebrities.
The pictures were allegedly of famous people including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, and Kim Kardashian.
Some representatives of the celebrities came forward to decry the hack, with Lawrence’s representative emphasizing that whoever is behind the hack should be brought to justice.
At least one of those named on the victims list has come forward to say that the photos of her are real.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead, an actress is on the so-called master list of names that are allegedly victims of the hack, said via Twitter that the pictures of her are real. “
Knowing those photos were deleted long ago, I can only imagine the creepy effort that went into this. Feeling for everyone who got hacked,” she said.
“To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves.”
