Ian Somerhalder’s new girlfriend Nikki Reed may have been banned from the set of Vampire Diaries because of Somerhalder’s co-star and ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev.
A flurry of reports over the past couple weeks indicated trouble brewing on the set because of the extreme public showings of romance between Somerhalder and Reed, which upset Dobrev.
Now a source tells Hollywood Life that Reed is banned from the set.
“Ian and Nikki’s relationship is causing a lot of drama, to the point where the producers have asked Ian not to bring Nikki to set when Nina is there because they are very worried about losing her. They worry that the show would fall apart without her,” the source said.
One of the three stars of the show--Somerhalder, Dobrev, and Paul Wesley--have been reported to not be signed on for a season 7, per Entertainment Weekly previously.
Hollywood Life says that it’s Dobrev, and producers are worried that she won’t renew the contract if Reed keeps showing up.
“It’s unlikely that Nina would try to get out of her contract in the middle of this season, but it’s something producers are worried about. It would be very costly for Nina to get out of her contract now, but things like that have happened before, so everyone’s walking on eggshells with her,” the source said.
“Not to mention the fact that Nina hasn’t signed anything for anything beyond season six.”
