Job Overview

We are seeking a Health News Reporter with a strong journalism background and expertise in health-related topics to join our team. The ideal candidate will excel at reporting quickly and accurately on breaking health and medical news stories, demonstrate excellent research skills, possess strong news judgment, and be able to work effectively under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor and track health and medical breaking news, including public health issues, medical research, healthcare policies, and industry developments. - Write clear and concise articles, ensuring timely publication and adherence to our editorial guidelines. - Verify facts and data to maintain the highest level of accuracy. - Develop and maintain relationships with sources, including health professionals, researchers, and industry experts, to gather exclusive information and insights. - Collaborate with editors, fellow reporters, and marketing teams to enhance the quality and reach of health news coverage. - Ability to utilize social media and other digital tools to identify trends. - Stay up-to-date with industry trends, research, and emerging health topics to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Job Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field. - At least 2-3 years of experience, preferably in health, science, or medical journalism. - Strong news judgment and a keen eye for identifying relevant and timely health stories. - Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to produce clean and engaging copy under tight deadlines. - Excellent research and fact-checking skills. - Familiarity with digital media tools, social media, and SEO techniques. - Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. - Flexibility to work irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, as breaking news demands.

Pay Range

The annual base pay range for this role is between $40,000 and $70,000. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range according to the selected candidate’s experience, location, technical skills, and other factors.
