The Change.org petition to call on Rockstar to bring “Grand Theft Auto V” to the PC has got 700,000 signatures.
“Please release GTA V on PC. GTA games have been a large part of so many people’s lives and it’s a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform. Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have,” it reads.
About a week ago, the petition got more than 690,000 signatures, which is up 40,000 from earlier this year.
According to Gamespot, it’s taking longer to bring “GTA V” to the PC--if it actually being released on the platform--than “GTA IV.” It took Rockstar 217 days to port “GTA IV” to the PC after console versions came out, but it’s been 224 days since “GTA V” came out on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Since then, there’s been a spate of rumors about a PC version of “GTA V,” including screenshots of European retailers saying the game will come out.
It’s expected that Rockstar will bring “GTA V” to the PC. According to Eurogamer last year, sources indicated to the website.
“[PC] gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Assassin’s Creed 4,” Nvidia’s senior director of investor relations, Chris Evenden, said during a conference call last year.
Gamespot also reported that Intel is expecting to bring “GTA V” to the PC
“At least with Grand Theft Auto, I don’t think it'll be console-exclusive very long. But that’s what happens when you have a brand new launch with two companies that have lots of money trying to make sure they have content,” Chris R. Silva, the marketing director for Intel’s Premium Notebooks, told the website.
