Timberlake, Joel Support Music Education Initiative

Musician Justin Timberlake has donated an autographed piano to a charity auction supporting Ten O’Clock Classics, a New York-based organization that aims to bring classical music to a broader, more youthful audience and that provides music lessons and free instruments to New York City school children. Billy Joel has also recently supported the organization after hearing news of a slash in funding for its programs. Auction details can be found at charitybuzz.com.

Dan Rather’s Lawsuit Dismissed

A lawsuit brought against CBS Corp. by former CBS news anchor Dan Rather was dismissed by the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division on Tuesday. Rather claimed that the company failed to give him enough assignments to fulfill its contractual obligation to the newsman and further prevented him from seeking outside employment by not releasing him after a scandal forced Rather to be removed from his post as nightly news anchor. The court determined that there was insufficient evidence to support Rather’s argument.

Andrew Shue and Amy Robach Engaged

Former “Melrose Place” star Andrew Shue and NBC newswoman Amy Robach are engaged, People magazine reports. Shue is the co-founder of the nonprofit Do Something and the social networking site “CafeMom.” Robach is a correspondent for and weekend co-host of NBC’s “Today Show.”

John Mayer to Release ‘Battle Studies’

Musician John Mayer will release his fourth studio album, “Battle Studies” on Nov. 17. Fans who have most recently heard from Mayer via tabloids and Twitter won’t have to wait much longer for the release of the album’s first single, “Who Says.” Mayer also plans to tour North America next year.
