Starring Oscar-winning George Clooney, The American led the Labor Day weekend box office with an estimated $13 million, according to the Box Office Mojo.

Since its release on Sept. 1, the thriller now has earned $16.11 million domestically from about 3,200 screens at 2,823 theaters.

Following The American are Takers—which topped the box office last week—at second place with $11.45 million and Machete at third with $11.30 million.

The American made $1.67 million on its opening day and another $1.47 million on Thursday, leading the box office on both days.
