Tropical Storm Gaston, the season’s seventh named storm, formed in the open Atlantic at about 895 miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Gaston is the fourth tropical storm in the last 11 days and is spinning westward at 15 mph.

The tropical storm will continue to move toward the west or west-northwest with a “significant decrease” in forward speed and weaker strength in the next few days, according to an advisory issued by the center.
