Gabourey Sidibe to Host ‘SNL’
The breakout star of the award-winning film “Precious,” Gabourey Sidibe, is making the stage of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” the next stop on her roller-coaster ride. The unsuspecting actress was an unknown college student studying psychology when she took on the now highly acclaimed role. Sidibe was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in the gut-wrenching film, as well as a Golden Globe and Screen Actor’s Guild award. The 26-year-old will host the show on April 24. American Idol Carrie Underwood is teaming up with pet food company Pedigree for the Pedigree Adoption Drive. The singer/actress was on hand at the Bidawee animal shelter in Manhattan this week to show her support. The campaign, which simply aims to encourage an increase in dog adoptions from shelters, is asking for donations and Facebook fans, in addition to direct adoptions.
Jennifer Hudson Becomes the Face of Weight Watchers
Academy Award and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson has become the new spokeswoman for weight-loss company Weight Watchers and will be publicly sharing her weight-loss journey through an upcoming campaign, “Me. Empowered.” In a recent television spot, the star, a new mother, claims she is at the smallest size of her “adult life,” because of her success on the company’s program.
