An Ohio grand jury indicted a former beauty pageant winner earlier this month for smuggling a small amount of marijuana into a prison for an inmate.
Officers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol obtained a warrant to search Kia Hampton, 28, after listening to recorded phone calls.
Police interrogated her on the way into Allen Correctional Institution on May 26.
While she was questioned, Hampton slid a hand into her pants, the officers say, pushing a white balloon to the floor.
Hampton won the Miss Kentucky USA pageant in 2010, becoming the first black woman to represent the state in Miss USA.
