FUKUOKA, Japan—Former Indonesian First Lady, Ms. Dewi Sukarno, had seen Shen Yun Performing Arts four years ago in Tokyo. This year, Ms. Sukarno brought four of her friends to catch Shen Yun’s last performance in Japan at the Fukuoka SunPalace Big Hall on May 1.

“I feel extremely lucky to be able to see such a gorgeous performing arts show,” said Ms. Sukarno, who was amazed all over again. “The application of the dazzling colors of the costumes and every movement of the artists brought out the gentle beauty and grace of the female artists, and the passion and strength of the male artists. This performance is beyond what I have ever seen!”

Ms. Sukarno used hand gestures trying to explain her point, “The movements, like the spins and the jumps, are done with clean precision and easily.”

Ms. Sukarno said she enjoyed all the classic ancient Chinese stories from Journey to the West, the Shaolin Temple, and Outlaws of the Marsh. “It’s hard to say which one is my favorite because they are all terrific. The backdrop animation was so much fun and interesting,” she said.

“Believing in heaven and gods is a wonderful thing. When people know to show their respect in front of majestic divine beings, people will act in a modest and humble way. This is a good thing for mankind.

“More people in Japan should take a look at this breathtaking performance. They will know what the real traditional Chinese culture is. I will definitely introduce it to more people,” Ms. Sukarno said.

Ms. Sukarno is the widow of Indonesia’s first president, Mr. Sukarno. She was his third wife. They had met in Japan.
