A football (soccer) strike is planned for the end of November into December 2013 in France, with players and officials upset over President Francois Hollande’s plans to tax top earners in the country 75 percent.

Hollande said Thursday that he wouldn’t drop his plans, in a meeting with French football chiefs, reported AFP.

The football clubs are planning the walkout from November 29 to December 2.

“We are involved in a historic protest and have a real determination to save football by having a weekend without games at the end of November," Jean-Pierre Louvel, the president of the professional clubs’ union, told reporters last week, reported Euro News

If it happens, it would be the first strike for more than 40 years.

Nearly 75 percent of the Ligue 1 clubs will be affected by the tax.
