A flash flood warning for New Jersey and New York City was issued on Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service issued the warning at 9:35 p.m. ET.

As much as one inch of rain will fall in less than an hour, the agency said.

In some areas, between two and three inches will wall in the warning area.

According to the agency:

The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a Flash Flood Warning for: Southeastern Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey. Hudson County in northeastern New Jersey. Kings County in southeastern New York. Queens County in southeastern New York. New York County in southeastern New York. Bronx County in southeastern New York.

Until 12:30 AM EDT.

At 9:34 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated Heavy Rain across the warned area. Up to one inch of rain in less than an hour is likely with this storm. Flash Flooding is expected to begin shortly. Rainfall of 2 to 3 threes will be possible in the warned area.
