Two separate research studies indicate that the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes the disease COVID-19, arrived in New York City earlier than reported and was mostly transmitted by people travelling from Europe and other regions of the United States and not from China were the virus originated.

The studies of SARS-CoV-2 virus, also referred to as the CCP virus, were released by Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) in New York City and the NYU Grossman School of Medicine on Thursday, which is said will help guide the city’s public health response, according to a press release.
