TAIPEI, Taiwan—Touched by the spectacular show presented by Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei on the afternoon of Feb. 24, Su Tian-ci, associate professor of the Department of Fine Arts at the Chinese Culture University, said with emotion: “I was told that it [Shen Yun] is from New York, with artists from all over the world. I was almost moved to tears [by the performance].
“I believe it is a blessing for people in various places if we promote this kind of program across the globe; as such a magnificent program is indeed worth appreciating … Therefore, it is my wish that the magnificence [of the Shen Yun performance] can be spread to every corner of the world. This is just my humble wish.”
“This is my first time seeing the Shen Yun performance, and I was deeply moved. Regardless of music or choreography, it is superb. In particular, the lighting and the backdrops are amazingly vivid and lifelike. How was the big fish (in the program Sand Monk Is Blessed) made? I really have never seen something like that. The programs are the presentations of the essence of folklores of various ethnicities,” he added.
Marveling at the animated backdrops, associate professor Su exclaim: “I was very much impressed with the Flowing Sands River (on the backdrop of the program Sand Monk Is Blessed). The river and fish were so vivid, as if the big fish could really jump out of the water. In the meantime, the temples were so real that I couldn’t imagine how they were made. I'll think them over after getting home. They are really magnificent.”
“Of course, every program was very wonderful. Especially, the dancers were very elegant, with distinct sensibilities,” he said.
Finally, he said, “I was overwhelmed by the Shen Yun performance. It is a blessing to see such a wonderful program.”
