GOTHENBURG Sweden—A 68-year-old Swedish man was cleared of allegations of killing his wife, after it turned out that she was probably killed by an elk.
An autopsy, could not determine the woman’s cause of death. But a few hairs from an elk were found on her clothes.
It is now thought that an elk killed the 63-year-old woman while she was walking in a forest with her dog close to a lake in Loftahammar.
Elk, sometimes called the king of animals in Sweden, can be found in gardens in Sweden feasting on apples. Swedish Radio International reported that elk can become aggressive after eating fermented apples.
Bengt Andersson, a hunter’s association member, told the Swedish radio station that he has never heard of an elk killing a human.
The police haven’t confirmed that the woman was killed by an elk, but announced they will address the details in a press conference this week.
