Earthquake Today: 5.6 Quake Hits Iran Near Border with Iraq

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit today in Iran near Sarpol-e Zahab, and near the border with Iraq.

The quake hit 14 miles southwest of Sarpol-e, 41 miles north of Mandali, and 46 miles east-southwesst of Kifri, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

It also hit 99 miles northeast of Baghdad, Iraq.

The quake caused light to moderate shaking in the surrounding area.
