Earthquake Today: 5.5 Quake Hits Off the Coast of Japan, Felt in Tokyo

An earthquake hit today in Japan just off the coast, and was felt in Tokyo.

 The quake was 5.5 in magnitude, reported the Japanese Meteorological Society. It hit just after 1 p.m. local time on December 14.

The U.S. Geological Service hasn’t yet recorded the quake.

There is no tsunami warnings or advisories, the society said.

She said that the quake shook tall buildings in Tokyo, reported Mari Saito of Reuters.
