The Duggars’ 19 Kids and Counting show on TLC is set for two new episodes on Tuesday night.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are featured celebrating their 30th anniversary on the first episode.
Since the show is pre-recorded, the anniversary actually happened back on July 21.
The couple was married when Jim was 19 and Michelle was 17. Four years later, their first child arrived. Now they have 19 children and three grandchildren.
Michelle recalled the couple’s wedding and honeymoon in two blog posts. The wedding was “sweet and simple,” with as much done by Michelle and family members as possible to save on money.
“I even made my own bouquet using fake flowers so I could keep them to decorate my home with later. When my sister arrived from out of town and noticed that I didn’t have any flowers, she offered to create a flower display to put up behind the altar area. She used silk flowers and made a beautiful arrangement,” she remembered. And she even made her own wedding cake.
The honeymoon was also a frugal affair, spent at state parks “because the cabins there were so reasonable.”
In a video preview for the episode, Jim Bob explains about the family’s choosing to use side hug instead of regular hugs.
“A side hug would be when two people wrap their arms around each other and give each other a hug from the side versus a frontal hug of pushing themselves together on the front,” he said.
Apparently the family uses side hugs even among siblings and, between other family members.
The two episodes on October 7 are titled “Duggars in Cuffs” and “Duggar Derby.”
In the first episode, Jim Bob and Michelle go on a triple date with Jill and Derick Dillard, and Jessa and Ben Seewald. Meanwhile in DC, Josh gets back on track with his fitness goals by running a 5K.
And in the second episode, the family gears up for the big derby race. Also, Jessa and Ben practice their parenting skills and take the littlest Duggars out for a day of fun.
